Cheater, Cheater, Doughnut Eater

Day Four: Bananas and milk. Today you will eat as many as 8 bananas and drink 3 glasses of milk. This can be combined with the special soup in limited quantities.

By 2:30pm I had eaten 2 bananas and drinken 1 glass of milk. I do not like milk so I was impatiently waiting for my husband to be home so we could make smoothies!
I sent my husband to work with fruits including bananas, vegetables, milk and leftover soup. I figured he could eat more bc he's going to still lose more anyway. He arrived home earlier than usual and we needed more bananas!
So we go to Miller Farms. BAD IDEA!!! The smell of hotdogs and the sight of every single person there eating ice cream was too much for me to take. I totally cracked. We got "half smoke"s which were the most delectable smoked hot dogs I have ever had, seriously... not just because I haven't eaten meat in 4 days! We still got more bananas and picked some other goodies too like corn in the husk, cucumber and a homemade parmesan seasoning blend. Ok, and I admit it... double dipped chocolate covered peanuts also made their way into our basket :-/

Then after we ate our non-GM diet hot dogs we decided to go into the other side of Miller Farm's market store. Another BAD IDEA. My husband just couldn't resist and got a dozen doughnuts. I tried to talk him out of it but...
I had ice cream with my 5 year old.
I know. Shame, shame. Tsk, Tsk. I confessed to my best friend what we had done and thankfully she was comical but reminded me that I need to get my booty back on track and work off what I just ate! See, the problem is... actually I mean, the excuse is that I only like one type of workout and it's aerobic step. I got my light and heavy weights the other day and my lovely husband got me 1lb. walking weights (that I have yet to use). But I'm still waiting for my stepper and my two workout DVDs. See, I very strongly dislike exercise. I've never been athletic.

I've always just naturally been thin without having to work at it and I didn't have this problem after my first child. I was right back to the same size I was. Oh, how I miss the days. Whenever it came to losing weight I sometimes did it the unhealthy way. I've battled with anorexia before. But that's another story for another day bc the reason wasn't even for losing weight. Anyway.....

Alright, alright. I admit I ate one doughnut. I'm ashamed. It was sooo delicious but I didn't really feel that good afterwards! lol

However, we still finished off the night with some delicious strawberry banana smoothies.

On another note, today was the anniversary of our "reunion". Tune in tomorrow for that romantic story ;)

Day Three; Almost Halfway

A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any amount but no bananas yet.

No weight change today at weigh in before breakfast. My husband did not hope on the scale before leaving for work so who knows how much he's lost by now. We chopped and portioned out the night before what he would take to work which included watermelon, apples, oranges, pineapple, leftover soup, and corn.

There was women's bible study at 10am and I forgot to feed myself! When we have places to go I get caught up dressing and feeding everyone that I usually forget to eat! And normally this wouldn't be a horrible thing because breakfast yummies are served at bible study. I was praying on the way to church that someone would bring fruit! But of course the first food to arrive was Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. I tried to stay away from the table! Finally though someone brought in some cantaloupe!! Phew! I was safe! But then there was the delicious coffee I normally enjoyed every Friday morning. I just stood over the coffee staring at it. On the GM diet you are allowed black coffee but I cant drink my coffee unless its creamy and sweet! I drank it with my eyes then sat down to enjoy my 4 little pieces of cantaloupe!

Once I returned home, I cuddled up on the couch and ate watermelon for breakfast while watching cartoons with my boys. For snack I had an apple and lunch was leftover soup. I'm not a fan of fish sticks but when I made some for my son's lunch, they smelled pretty darn good!!

Overall, it was a pretty uneventful day. I made soup for dinner (to be ready when my husband arrived home like a good wife haha) with tomatoes, celery, asparagus, celery, green pepper, cabbage, and one packet of dry onion soup mix. It was okay but the previous soup was better! We also had some steamed broccoli, and kiwis.

We went upstairs to go to bed at 7:30pm. The earliest EVER! We read our usual bedtime stories to little man; The Jesus Storybook Bible (I highly recommend it) and My First Devotionals (also a great one!!) and tucked him in. My husband went to bed and I struggled getting our littlest mister to sleep in his crib. I finally won at around 10pm! No complaints today except for when I woke up at 1:30am with the baby, I felt ill- head pounding and nauseous. But that might have to do with meds more than the diet.

Matthew 6:25
"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?"

Day Two

All vegetables. You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit to the amount or type. For your complex carbohydrate, you will start day two with a large baked potato for breakfast. You may top the potato with one pat of butter.

Although dry, a baked potato had never tasted so good! I found that I couldn't even eat the whole thing.

Our scale unfortunately is a piece of garbage but when my husband weighed himself he had gone down 7 whole pounds! I was jealous! Why is it so easy for men?! I had gone down 4 lbs. My best friend in Chicago had lost 2 lbs.
So after our delicious breakfast we were pretty full. We decided to spend the day out of the house and go to a very dangerous place... the mall. Not only did the mall have GREAT sushi (surprisingly.. and my favorite food) but there was a Dairy Queen, Cinnabon, and Chick-fil-A! It was certainly a challenge. But before our departure we snacked on some Sunsweet yellow cherry tomatoes. Yum!

Our 5 year old needed summer clothing now that he's like 2-3 sizes bigger than he was last year and had only warm pants and jeans in his wardrobe. My husband decided it would be a good opportunity to do some secret birthday shopping for me. Both our birthdays are next month :) So we parked outside Sears like we always do and split up. I made a b-line to Old Navy, staying on the first floor to avoid the scrumptious smells of foods I couldn't have. My husband called as I was checking out and wanted to meet up. He was upstairs in the food court.

I arrive and my husband says "What can we eat? I'm STARVING!" My reply was of course, "Nothing here!" So he wanted to leave immediately and go home. That wasn't an option because I still had to get clothes for our little man! I spotted an asian stir fry place and told him we could ask them for ONLY vegetables. I asked and they looked at me like I had sprouted three heads! He had to clarify "No chicken??" I said, "NO chicken!" "And no rice??"

"Nope. Just vegetables. Lots of them."

It ended up being mostly cabbage and unseasoned (we added salt and pepper). It was rough but we powered through it. My husbands hunger was still unsatisfied. So he did a lap around the food court looking for any place that might have veggies. I had completely forgotten that we could've gotten a salad which probably would have made it a lot easier but then again we wanted hot food. He comes back with more stir fry vegetables from a different asian restaurant and corn on the cob from Popeyes. It was an interesting lunch. Afterwards as we continued on our shopping adventure I was begging my husband for sushi. And as time went by I told him over and over and over how much I wanted a Cinnabon with a  delicious blended coffee beverage!
I'm so very grateful that he was strong and told me NO. Something I don't hear often and don't like very much but was appreciating it at this time. I was relentless too! I kept telling him that sushi wasn't that bad of a cheat. He reminded me it had rice but at that point I just wanted it so bad I could taste it.

On the way home I even mentioned wanting something and he informed that he would stop the plan for good but wouldn't cheat.
"If we're going to do this, we're going to do it right."
I sure do love my man.

For dinner I sautéed some cabbage, heated up some cooked (mashed) squash, and made some soup with tomato sauce, celery, asparagus, corn, green pepper, cabbage, and tomatoes. To my surprise, the soup was great! Not that bad of a day! I was looking forward to having fruit again on day 3 though!

However, in the morning both my best friend and husband were complaining of a headache.

Day One

This morning at our weigh-in my husband was at 190 and myself 180 :(
I wish losing 10-17 lbs meant that in the end I'd be at 130! But math insist on being so literal ;)
Today has been rough. The first day is the hardest by far and we are very much looking forward to tomorrow when we can have some "real" food. It was a difficult task eating ONLY fruit and boy were the food cravings after me today! I wanted all sorts of things I couldn't have.
For our breakfast we split a personal size watermelon.

Lunch was an apple and sliced mango. Dinner we split the golden honeydew and were still hungry so we snacked on some strawberries. And our "late night" snack is pineapple. The hunger pangs have been frequent; taunting us. My husband who craved hot food decided to heat the pineapple in a skillet over the stove. Let's just say it smelled interesting and he, while hoping for a grilled pineapple taste, admitted it tasted like he nuked it.
I wish I could say we stuck to only melons and lost weight today but I wont get discouraged this is only the beginning. Tomorrow is a new day!

"Why do we have to get up early?" -Me
"So I can eat some FOOD!"

Detox Week; In the Beginning

I was incredibly blessed with another precious little boy on Jan 30 and now almost 2 1/2 month postpartum I am beyond impatient to get my body back! None of my clothes fit and I'm just not liking that one bit! Thankfully I have an amazing husband that not only love love LOVES my body but also bought me some really nice yoga pants at my fave store, Target. I pretty much rock em every day ;) Except for to church of course... I don't really go many other places. My best friend in Chicago pinned a very appealing 7 day detox diet/cleanse that claims to make you lose 10-17 lbs in that one week. All we have to do is follow the regimen. Of course, my first thought is 'man, this is going to be hard' but then I read it and researched it and I think it's totally doable. So, starting today my best friend, my husband (I know, so supportive right.. love him!) and I are starting this 7 day adventure with hopes that we will be trimmer by next Wednesday!!
Oh, the cleanse.. you may have heard of it before. The GM diet. Originally developed for General Motors employees and families to keep them fit. Just FYI, it's on Pinterest ;)

There's a lot of fruits and veggies involved so we went grocery shopping last night. For a weeks worth of groceries we normally spend anywhere between $90 and $150 at the commissary or Safeway. The commissary just doesn't have a wide or fresh selection of produce so we hopped on over to Safeway and FILLED our cart with produce! Anddd it ended up costing us over $200 but it was mostly healthy foods (there were lunchables, chicken nuggets, fruit snacks, and kid cuisines for our 5 year old lol), we got $0.30 per gallon in rewards and saved $29 with our club card.

Each day 8-10 glasses of water must be consumed. We are bottled water fans so we plan on at LEAST 6 bottles a day and aiming for more. Our water intake is something that needs working on. Soda is a weakness for us! And you're also encouraged to exercise during these 7 days (and regularly, of course) as a way to maintain your energy levels since your body will not be able to derive energy from carbohydrates.

Day One: All fruits except bananas. your first day will consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day. Especially watermelon and cantaloupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons, your chances of losing 3 lbs. on the first day are very good.

So, we stocked up on melons; watermelon, golden honeydew and honeydew. But we forgot to grab a cantaloupe so we will most likely be picking some up while were out today.
My husband, who works 13-14 hour shifts, is still sleeping but is about to be woken up! We have fruit to be eating, water to be drinking and finally some sun to be soaking up ;) It's 11:30 and I still haven't eaten (tsk tsk) but almost through my first bottle of water!

Stay tuned for our weigh in!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body,"
